Indexing & learning

How StudyBits indexes your sources and the assistant learns.

Once you've added connectors, StudyBits indexes your sources so the StudyBits Assistant can answer from them. This runs in the background — you don't have to wait at a screen.

What happens

  1. Initial index — StudyBits reads the content you selected from each connected source, along with who can access it.
  2. Understanding — it builds a searchable, permission-aware understanding of your company's knowledge.
  3. Continuous sync — after the first pass, StudyBits keeps up with changes: new and edited content is picked up automatically, and permission changes are honored.

How long it takes

Initial indexing depends on how much content you connected — minutes for a few spaces, longer for large drives or wikis. You can start using everything that's already indexed while the rest catches up. The Connectors panel shows progress per source.

Permissions are always respected. The assistant only ever surfaces content a person is already allowed to see in the source. When access changes at the source, StudyBits follows.

Verify before you launch

Sign in as a test learner and ask a few real questions. Confirm:

  • Answers cite the right sources.
  • The learner can't see anything they shouldn't.

When that looks right, you're ready to go live.
